A Rarity in Rome

The Impressionists were French painters, not Italians.  That’s why very few of their Monetpaintings are here in Rome.  Most of their work is found today in France (surprise!).

This is why a special exhibition that is currently ongoing here is so exiting!  For a limited time, the Musée Marmottan Monet in Paris has permitted a collection of their works by this great impressionist to be sent to Rome.

But the time turned out to be too limited!  Originally scheduled for only a couple of months, the exhibition has been extended twice already, due to popular demand.  At the moment it is running through June 3.  Nobody knows if the Marmottan will agree to extend the show yet again–so if  you’re a big Monet fan, and have no plans to visit Paris, the time to visit this exhibition is now.
